At Blackbird Accounting PLLC, our love for numbers is matched only by our love for America’s National Parks.

Colleen DeGroat and her husband John paddling on Jenny Lake at Grand Teton National Park

Colleen’s bond with the national parks is nothing short of profound. She spent three unforgettable summers working in the heart of Grand Teton National Park, where each day began with the awe-inspiring sight of jagged peaks piercing the morning sky. It was there—surrounded by alpine air, quiet trails, and a landscape that felt like a living masterpiece—that she fell deeply in love with the wild serenity only nature can offer.

But her journey began long before that. As a child, Colleen’s sense of wonder was sparked by family road trips led by her mom and grandparents, who introduced her and her sisters to the magic of the National Parks. Those early adventures lit a fire in her spirit that still burns brightly today. So far, she’s explored 14 of the 63 parks—but for Colleen, this is just the beginning of a lifelong pilgrimage to places that feel like home.

Angel McKee and her son at Yellowstone National Park

Angel and her family hit the road every summer in their motorhome to explore a new park, making lasting memories along the way. Her passion is fueled by her admiration for Theodore Roosevelt and his vision to protect these natural treasures for generations to come.

This summer, we’re inviting our clients, friends, and community members to share your National Park moments with us. Send us your favorite photo from a National Park adventure — whether it’s a sweeping landscape, a quiet trail, or a candid camping memory. We’ll be decorating our office with the photos we receive, creating a tribute wall to the wild places we all love.

Please send entries via email to admin@blackbirdcpas.com or to your accountant or bookkeeper at Blackbird Accounting PLLC by August 15th, 2025.  We need your name, email, phone number, the name of the national park and anyone in the image, as well as a description or story of your adventure.

At the end of the season, our team will vote on a favorite, and we’ll make a donation to the park featured in the winning photo — in your honor.

Let’s celebrate the places that inspire us, refresh us, and remind us what matters most.
